Rule changes taking effect immediately for the
2016 regular season and tournament:
rule changes have been made by Little League that are in effect for this season.
They will supersede the rule in the published 2016 rule books:
With written approval from the District Administrator, a league
president may manage or coach a tournament team.
- In upper divisions of softball (above major)
a pitcher can be removed, even replaced with a substitute, and
return to pitch.
- Change in the date to have tournament team
tryouts, announce teams and have practice to June 1.
- Expand age ranges for the three lower level
tournaments. Tournaments will be 8,9 &10, 9, 10 & 11 and
10, 11 & 12 year olds.

State mandated background checks:
In addition to
the annual Little League mandatory back checks for all volunteers, the
Pennsylvania State Legislature has a law that all persons having repetitive
contact with children have the following clearances, criminal history from the
Pennsylvania State Police and Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department
of Human Services. Additionally, a fingerprint based federal criminal
history (FBI) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized
agent is required if the position the volunteer is applying for is a paid
position; and the volunteer has lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
in the last 10 years.
All local Little Leagues are required
to conduct background checks on Managers, Coaches, Board of Directors members
and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service
to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or

turned in to league officials who will then conduct a
nationwide background check. (Note: The United States
