District 1 is sponsoring a district wide clinic for coaches
covering fundamentals and first-aid on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Crawford
County Area Vocational Technical School cafeteria beginning at 9:00 a.m. until
approximately 1:00 p.m. The clinic is open to all coaches and assistants
from the leagues of District 1. The clinic is to help leagues in the
process of completing the requirements for the ASAP program.
District 1 is now a part of Pennsylvania Section 1. The
Charter Committee has approved the Association of Pennsylvania District
Administrators proposal to reorganize into eight sections of four districts
each. We join with Districts 3, 10 and 25 to make up the new Section 1.
More information can be found on the Pennsylvania Little League web site -
www.pastatell.org.

All local Little Leagues are required
to conduct background checks on Managers, Coaches, Board of Directors members
and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service
to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or
teams. The process involves the volunteer filling out the Little League
Volunteer application.

If you cannot open the form, you need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader on your

The completed form is then
turned in to league officials who will then conduct a
nationwide search that contains the applicable government sex offender
registry data. (Note: The United States
Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Registry is free and
available at
www.nsopr.gov.
Information on conducting a more thorough background check at a nominal cost
can be found on the Little League website, or at
http://littleleague.choicepoint.com.) Volunteers can not assume any duties prior to approval by
league officials. More information on
the Little League Child Protection Program can be found
